Somewhere on the endless American interstate, a tour bus the size of a whale carries a band that is becoming something closer to a religion. Babylon plays for crowds that arrive like pilgrims, and behind the throbbing bass and the body paint, its members are starting to suspect their dreams are bleeding into one another — and into something far older. Meanwhile, a federal agent named Trevino sifts through the wreckage they leave behind, certain it adds up to more than bad music and felony theft.
“Wandering Stars” follows the Fallen Cycle's mythpunk rock cult as it grows: live-television ambushes, desert initiations, and a prophet who talks about the apocalypse the way other people talk about the weather.
